Devoured About Vorarephilia or Vore

image grrlfood.jpg

Vorarephilia (frequently shortened to Vore) is commonly misspelled Voreaphilia or Voraphilia. The word is derived from the Latin vorare (to ‘swallow’ or ‘devour’) and Ancient Greek φιλία (philia, ‘love’).

The actual word “vorarephilia” itself refers to a paraphilia closely related to endosomatophilia (see below), a paraphilia in which one derives sexual pleasure from being consumed or covered by anything, but vorarephilia is different in that the particular person deriving the sexual pleasure may be either an observer, a victim, or a predator, not just a victim, and in that the act must be or is preferably between two creatures who are at least remotely alive. It is sometimes (but not necessarily) consensual.

In the terms of this website vorarephilia or vore is a paraphilia (sexual interest) where arousal occurs from the idea of being eaten or swallowed, eating or swallowing another, or observing this process. Occasionally by giants or giantesses, or even plants or monsters.

Preferences vary, but most prefer to fantasize about being devoured whole and alive (soft vore), as opposed to those who prefer to be torn, chewed, and killed (hard vore).

The fantasy may include digestion, which may be imagined to be painless.

In most circles, a voraphile who fantasises about actually being eaten is called a “Prey” - reportedly based on how animals are considered to be prey for other animals who are in a higher chain position - while a voraphile who actually does the eating in the fantasies is referred to as a “Pred” (derived from from the word “predator”).

The most common type of vore is “soft vore”, being swallowed or swallowing whole with no bloodshed.

Soft vore defines all kinds of vore that do not involve killing; gore; digestion etc. Usually swallowing the victim alive whereby the predator holds them ‘prisoner’ for lack of a better word. Actually doing this kind of soft vore is, as you could have easily reasoned impossible in real life and often is realised online in the form of roleplaying.

In soft vore, prey can be either willing or unwilling. Because of its non-violent nature, soft vore is commonly regarded as more sensual and sexually oriented. Soft vore is defined by the prey going down whole, many have their own preferences on whether or not they want to be digested, snuffed or simply held in the stomach.

There is also the less common “hard vore” which involves gore or killing of the victim, cutting, biting, tearing or cooking, dismemberment and chewing . Hard vore can and often will involve digestion, death, and very realistic features. Hard vore is one object eating another, living object, with destructive, often fatal, results.

Other types of vore include macrophilia and microphilia, in which one character involved in the vore is larger or smaller than normal.

Many might associate vore with cannibalism; however, most voraphiles do not favor cannibalism. Vore is an imaginary fetish; that is, it is impossible to perform in real life in the way most fantasize, unlike most cannibalism.

Also included with vore is sometimes the “furry” community: people who are interested in usually anthromorphic animals (humanized creatures). With animals as characters in vore fantasies, predation is natural and therefore somewhat more realistic.

Endosomatophilia (from Greek endo- (within) somato- (body) philia (affection); is an attraction (often as a sexual fetish) to fantasies involving complete encapsulation of a living thing within the body of another living thing. Endosomatophilia is often an underlying factor in vorarephilia/phagophilia, unbirth, insertion fantasy, and other related fetishes.

An unbirth is a sexual fetish involving the desire to be “swallowed alive” by the female genitalia. Taking the desire to return to the womb to heart, unbirth fans will sometimes link to their new ‘mother’ via a magically adaptive umbilical cord, and remain happily ensconced for as long as their host permits. Unbirthing is simply a “reverse” birthing from outside into a vagina.

Macrophilia is the sexual attraction to larger people. Macrophilia has two main forms: the shrinking of self and the enlargement of others.

Microphilia is the sexual attraction to a smaller person or other sexual object. It is not necessarily the opposite of macrophilia, however it is close enough to be called the opposite. It can also refer to the desire to be miniaturized or diminished in size. Many microphiles also are interested in vore and insertion fetishes.

These phenomena are two sides of the same coin with macrophiles fantasizing about larger beings, microphiles fantasizing about smaller beings and a crossover contingent fantasizing about both.
